Altitude Illness
Altitude-related conditions can range from mild and discomforting to severe and life-threatening. EMS is in a unique position to assist in these cases as evacuation is not simply getting patients to treatment; evacuation; specifically, descent from the affecting elevation and hypoxic environment is the treatment. Join us as we explore the several different altitude ailments that you may encounter if you travel above 6000ft!
Your Instructor
Jason Tartalone is the founding member and owner of Sergeant Rescue Training & Consulting. He is a 12 year veteran of the U.S. Army and has spent a considerable time in Afghanistan serving as a senior medic for a scout and infantry company where he earned his Combat Medical Badge. He has also spent a considerable time working in austere environments with limited resources and support and has been involved in wilderness search and rescue for the past 18 years.
Jason is an accomplished wilderness rescue instructor and is a nationally registered Paramedic and has been active in EMS for 14 years as an EMS practitioner and educator.
